When the author created this image the audiences first interpretation of this image was that how strong of an army America has. They also saw how accomplished George Washington was in that image because him and his strong troops defeated the British. The author also wanted to get the word out that the citizen of America didn't need to worry because with a wonderful leader like Washington that the people were safe and secure.
This image was created because George Washington wanted to get the word out that no army is stronger then the American army. That all the citizens didn't have to worry because a leader like George Washington that demolished every single army that served for our country is protecting us with his powerful troops. You can see that in that picture because the American flag had been rose high and the British flag is on the ground while George Washington is standing tall over it.
